As Round 10 draws to a close and the announcement of the 2025 State of Origin squads looms, only one thing is certain this season… you cannot write off anyone in 2025- especially if they have Latrell Mitchell! The Titans, Rabbitohs and Bulldogs all ran down what seemed to be insurmountable leads at the time, which might’ve given some Tigers fans hope at half time on Sunday, before Melbourne really flexed their might. So while tipping in season 2025 is proving to be harder than ever, we’ll take another stab at it and take you through all the latest Jerseys Megastore tips and predictions for Round 11 of the NRL.
Newcastle Knights v Parramatta Eels:
With Game II of Women’s State of Origin on Thursday night, the kick off of Round 11 falls back to Friday night, as two teams battling to keep their season alive take the field at MacDonald Jones Stadium. Both were disappointing last week in their respective losses, and you can only imagine the individual coaches will be putting their sides to the sword on the training paddock this week. As we look toward this game, despite the potential strike power of the Newcastle back 6, they just cannot seem to get firing, and the refusal to pick Jackson Hastings is only furthering the hurt on the ladder. The spine of Iongi, Brown, Moses and Ryley ‘Temu Reed Mahoney’ Smith looks like it is continuing to develop over the short time they’ve had together. I think if they can put in an 80 minute performance, the Eels could really send a shockwave through the bottom four. I’m tipping Parramatta by 8 points.
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters:
The Bulldogs epitomised the next man up mentality last weekend as they ran down the Raiders 20 point half time lead, while missing 5 forwards, to prove they are the real deal. Their depth will be tested again this weekend as Jaemon Salmon went down in the dying minutes of the match taking the missing forward tally to 6, and they take on a fresh Roosters outfit bouncing in off a bye. The Roosters are pushing for a top eight spot, as they continue to surprise the punters who didn’t think much of their squad going into the first half of the year, but the harmonization of the Bulldogs attack when it’s firing could be very hard to stop for an also injury riddled Roosters. I’m going to tip the Bulldogs by 14 points.
Dolphins v New Zealand Warriors:
I said it last week, and I’ll say it again; the Wahs just keep finding a way! They’re sitting pretty in second position, albeit with a points differential of just +1, but they are getting it done. Conversely, the Dolphins only just scraped home by the skin of their teeth, and the strength of the Hammer, to beat the last placed Eels. As the Dolphins return to the bright lights of Suncorp Stadium, they will need to be drastically better than they have been in recent weeks if they are to stand a chance against this flying Warriors side. I’m tipping the Warriors by 2 points.
North Queensland Cowboys v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles:
There’s trouble brewing on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The Sea Eagles failed to put the Sharks to bed at home on Sunday, despite playing their 6th home game in 9 matches. Manly have had a very favourable start to the season, with a gun side, and are battling to stay in the eight. The Cowboys on the other hand, just took it to a Penrith side that seems to be back and firing again, and can score points from anywhere. Manly haven’t done much travel, and the trip to the humid conditions of far North Queensland may prove to be a tricky one for them this week. I’m taking the Cowboys by 18 points.
Cronulla Sharks v Melbourne Storm:
They came. They saw. They conquered. There isn’t much else to say about the 64 point massacre that Melbourne Storm put on the Tigers last Sunday. They’ll have a harder task on their hands this week though, as they take on the other Mother’s Day Marvels, with the Sharks coming in off the back of dusting up Manly in their own right. The previous two matches between these sides are split 1-1, and the Sharks are starting to play better football than they previously have been, with Nicho Hynes really starting to step up his game. Despite the positive changes happening in the Shire, it’s very very hard to see them being able to stop the flow of the Melbourne spine right now, even without Harry Grant. I’m tipping the Storm by 16 points.
Brisbane Broncos v St George Illawarra Dragons:
Both of these head coaches would’ve left Round 10 thinking the same thing… what the hell happened there?! The Broncos seem put the cue in the rack at half time against the Bulldogs and have’nt taken it back out yet. Sunday afternoon football, against a very beatable Dragons side, there are no excuses. The Broncos need to refind their form, or risk slipping out of the top eight entirely. If the Broncos want to be taken seriously in premiership contention discussions, they need to put this game to bed, and do it comfortably. I think they can. I’m tipping the Broncos by 30+.
Canberra Raiders v Gold Coast Titans:
The Titans saved the Des Man Walking, after miraculously running down Newcastle’s 20 point lead, however they face a different challenge entirely this week. The Raiders started very strongly against the best defence in the comp, before Stephen Crichton and the Bulldogs pulled their pants down in front of the Raider’s home fans and ran in 32 unanswered points. For me, this is a Raiders revenge game. Ricky will have them flying this week on a dry Sunday afternoon in the Nation’s capital. I’m tipping the Raiders by 30+ points.
Wests Tigers v South Sydney Rabbitohs:
The Tigers need to forget last week entirely if they are to have any chance this week against a soaring Latrell Mitchell. There was speculation online that Jarome Luai will activate the ‘get out’ clause in his contract after a 64 point flogging, so now’s the time to prove he’s in for the long haul and resurrect this Tiger’s side. This will need to be a Luai Legacy game if the Tigers are to get out of this week with a win. One thing playing into the Tigers favour, is the multitude of injuries the Rabbitohs are carrying, and the historical inconsistency of Latrell Mitchell. I’m going to take a risk here, and I’m tipping the Tigers by 8 points.
