Glory glory to South Sydney! The oldest, loudest, and one of the proudest clubs in the NRL, the South Sydney Rabbitohs are the next club’s jerseys we’ve taken a deep dive into! You’ll seldom find the club differ far from their classic red and green horizontal stripes, but when they do, they make it count. Over the years, they’ve delivered some of the best designs we’ve seen in the league. So let’s take a look at our picks for the top five South Sydney Jerseys this century!

Number 5: Kicking off our list of the top five Rabbitohs jerseys, is the 2008 Australia Day jersey! It doesn’t veer far from the traditional strip that Souths faithful know and love, but the addition of the white outline of the Sydney Opera House added a subtle nod to the famous city that the Bunnies call home. It showed pride in their club, in their city, and in their country. It truly embraced the spirit of the day.

Number 4: Our pick for the fourth best South Sydney Jersey this century is the 2014 Indigenous jersey. Worn in Round 23 against the Broncos, in what was recognised as the NRL’s ‘Close the Gap’ Round, the Bunnies donned a jersey designed by former NRL player Sid Domic. The tasteful incorporation of traditional aboriginal artwork styles, with the notorious South Sydney red and green, mixed in with some black, made a standout amongst the pack then, and now!

Number 3: Coming in at number 3 on the best Rabbitohs jerseys of the 2000’s, is the 2016 Batman v Superman Jersey! Worn in promotion of the film of the same name, the Batman v Superman jersey was a novelty strip that really suited the club’s style well. The gritty and dark nature of the design complemented the South’s tradition in the background. An absolute classic jersey.

Number 2: Cracking into the top two is the oldest jersey on this list. Our pick for the second best South Sydney jersey this century is the 2002 Away Jersey. It offered something unique in it’s design, other than the traditional horizontal stripes. The inclusion of the ‘V’ design on the white background showcased the fact that is was definitely an away jersey, but definitely South Sydney. A unique approach, and a pleasant change from tradition.

Number 1: Taking out the illustrious top spot, is the 2024 Indigenous Jersey! It’s the second of it’s nature to crack the top five, and a true testament to the pride the club take in their first nation’s players and member’s. This take on the design offered a brighter and modern interpretation, embodying the ‘warrior spirit’ of the club. Designed by a proud Wahlabul man, Uncle Joe Walker, the jersey showcased the silhouettes of the nine Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players in the South Sydney NRL Top 30 squad; Cody Walker, Latrell Mitchell, Alex Johnston, Jack Wighton, Isaiah Tass, Shaquai Mitchell, Tyrone Munro, Jacob Gagai and Tallis Duncan. Each silhouette featured a totem that linked them back to their respective cultural identity. It was a standout jersey, and we applaud South Sydney for the tremendous attention to detail!
